When asked to help teach the future generation firefighters, Christiana Fire did not hesitate to step up and assist. Enrolled OHS students in the Homeland Security and Firefighting class will receive instruction throughout the year equipping them for possible careers in the related industries.

Chief Reimold and Engine 52-1 reported to the Octorara High School Thursday to assist the Fire & Homeland Security class put on by teacher / instructor Mark Barto. Geared up in donated equipment from various local departments, students braved the rain to embrace some “hands on” instruction in Hose Line Advancement with live water conditions. Students also received an added bonus in Hydrant and Booster Tank operations.

Christiana Fire supports Instructor Barto and the many students who have taken the steps to learn and develop their knowledge of the firefighting service. With this class being in its inaugural year, Christiana Fire has already started to reap the benefits by adding over 5 enrolled students to our Junior Department. Great job all!
