Station 5-2 was alerted at 10:32 hours (along with Truck 4-2 (Gap) as part of the box assignment) for a building fire at 202 South Bridge Street. Caller told 911 dispatch that they witnessed a heavy black smoke coming from the chimney of a house located south of the fire house by about 4 houses.
Engine 5-2-1 (Lofgren) made a response at 10:37 hours with a crew of 5. Chief 5-2 (Reimold) arrived on scene at 10:39 hours and assumed command for the fire scene. Truck 4-2 made a response at 10:36 hours with a crew of 6.
Engine crew, upon arrival, pulled TIC (Thermal Imaging Camera) from the truck and some lights to investigate the cause of the smoke. It was determined that there was no danger and that the smoke was due to the homes furnace possibly malfunctioning.
Command placed incident under control and made all units available at 10:46 hours.
