Automatic Alarm Rings Out in Sadsbury Township

By Firefighter Ken Baker
January 20, 2010

Station 5-2 was alerted at 00:38 hours for an automatic alarm at the Dutchway Food Market at 365 Route 41 in Sadsbury Township.

Captian 5-2-2 (Wallace) marked enroute at 00:39 hours and within one minute was on the scene with nothing showing, investigating. Assistant Chief 5-2 (Fisher) arrived at scene a few moments after Captain 5-2-2.

Engine 5-2-1 (Manley) went enroute at 00:43 hours with a crew of 5. The engine made it about 1/8 of the way there before being recalled by Captain 5-2-2.

Upon their investigation, Assistant Chief 5-2 and Captain 5-2-2 were able to determine that the alarm was set off due to construction that was being carried out in the market during the nighttime hours. Assistant Chief 5-2 assisted in making sure the alarm was properly resetting.

All 5-2 units were made available at 00:44 hours.

Units: Engine 5-2-1, Assistant Chief 5-2, Captain 5-2-2
