By Firefighter Ken Baker
July 8, 2016

LCWC (Lancaster 911 Center) alerted the Station 52 members at 03:18 hours as part of a 1st alarm building assignment in Bart Township - bringing out Engine 52-1 and Tanker 52-2.

Captain 51-2 arrived on location at 03:22 hours confirming a dairy barn fire and requested a working fire dispatch adding Tanker 52-1 to the box assignment.

Tanker 52-2 (Lieutenant Miller) went responding at 03:24 hours with Engine 52-1 (Captain Stoltzfus) following immediately after at 03:25 hours. Tanker 52-1 (Captain Lofgren) completed the box assignment by responding at 03:28 hours.

Engine 52-1 arrived on location at 03:33 hours and was put to work immediately at the scene in assisting with fire suppression.

Tankers 52-2 and 52-1 arrived at 03:31 hours/03:35 hours respectively and was put into the Tanker Task Force that in place to supply water for the crews working at the scene.

Due to heavy fire at the barn, there was a large amount of tankers needed to make sure that there would be enough water to properly and efficiently extinguish the blaze.

Engine 52-1 crew members worked through the morning as part of the large man power team working to put the fire out.

Tanker 52-2 and Tanker 52-1 unloaded between 6 to 7 loads of water each in the fire attack efforts and assisted with setting up a portable tank operation at the end of the long farm lane.

The Engine Crew and Tanker 52-2 crew were first to be released from the scene at a little after 09:00 hours.

Tanker 52-1 crew remained on location while the last remaining fire fighters at the scene completed a quick sweep before breaking down operations. The tanker crew was finally released at 09:53 hours.

The Christiana Fire Company would like to take a moment and thank the West Grove Fire Company, Engine 22-1 (Chester County) for providing coverage in our fire house while the 52 crews were out on the Bart assignment.
