August 1, 2015

Saturday afternoon at 1626hrs, Lancaster County Wide Communication put out the first alarm assignment for a Building fire located at 302 Valley Avenue in our Atglen Borough, Chester County district. Units due on the structure involved Christiana Fire, Gap Fire and Christiana EMS out of Lanco and single unit mutual assists from Keystone Valley and Cochranville fire departments out of Chester County.

Duty Officer (Deputy 52) marked up receiving a report of a Gazebo fire next to a structure. Arriving moments later, Deputy 52 confirmed the report. Engine 52-1 arrived soon after, deploying a single attack line for the initial hit and to control the exposure while Cochranville fire (Engine 27-2) simultaneously pulled a bumper line to help knock down the fire. Units still on the street were immediately downgraded to a non-emergency response. Arriving units from Keystone and Gap assisted with manpower and checking the adjacent structure for extension before clearing several minutes later.

All mutual aid companies were let go within 20 minutes as 52 units waited for the Chester County Fire Marshall.

All 52 units clear 1732hrs.

Units: Engine 52-1, Tanker 52-2, Duty 52, Squad 52, Fire Police 52

Mutual Aid: Engine 27-2, Engine 42-2, Truck 42, Rescue 42, Rescue 8 and Ambulance 46-1
