January 1, 2015

A busy New Year’s Eve day ends with a working fire assist in Chester County. At 2242hrs Lancaster County 911 dispatched Christiana Fire for Engine 52-1 as a cover transfer to Avondale Fire (Station 23) in Chester County. Avondale, Kennett Square, Longwood along with many other Chester County fire companies were working a large 3 story Multi Occupancy building on Linden Street in Kennett Square borough.

Engine 52-1 marked in route with 5 personal before adding a sixth member just before leaving the station for the run down rte41 to the Avondale headquarters. Not more than a mile out of Christiana borough, Linden Street Command was calling for additional units to the scene to assist on the fire. Engine 52-1 was alerted by Chester 911 at 2254hrs for the change of assignment and to report to the fire scene. On arrival members reported to the Manpower Staging for assignments. Members from 52 remained on the scene for just under three hours working mostly on Division 2 assisting in fire suppression and Salvage/Overhaul.

52 members picked up and went available just before 0200hrs Thursday morning.

**Crews also answered two runs earlier in the day. First run was AFA assist to Keystone Valley Fire and the second was for alarm bells in the 52 local of Atglen borough.
