This past week had several opportunities for Christiana Fire and its crew to get out in the public and spend time with the many in our local School District and the municipalities we serve.

Wednesday Night Engine 52-1, Tanker 52-2 and Squad 52-1 took part in the fall fest event at Freedom Life Church. Kids enjoyed the “52” kid’s house fire prop using a small hoseline. Also available was on-hand car extrication work displayed for the many in attendance.

Thursday Night took Engine 52-1 and many “52” members to the Octorara Area High School and were joined by Cochranville Fire members (Chester Station 27) to participate in the Family Fun Night event. Handing out candy and tours of the fire apparatus were just a few of the things on tap for the evening.

Friday Night Squad 52-1 and Brush 52-1 took part in the local Trick or Treat event that was taking place in Christiana Borough. Again candy was handed out as well as engaging with the many Christiana Borough, Atglen Borough and Sadsbury Township community members who stopped by.

With the Halloween events in the books members got back to running two minor calls on Saturday. A Brush unit assist to Keystone Valley at 1210hrs and an Inside Investigation at 1730hrs Saturday Evening. The Brush assist at 301 Lenover Hill Road in West Sadsbury Township was reported as a field on fire with possible wires involved. The Brush arrived but was soon returned by KVFD.

The Inside Investigation was called in as a result of a Kitchen Fire that had begun at 254 Upper Valley Road in Sadsbury Township. “52” members were called out to verify the fire out as the result of the homeowner dumping some dry chemical extinguishers onto the table top fire. Crews arrived, checked for extension, provided minimal overhaul services and ventilated the home. Home owners indicated they were alerted to the fire by working smoke detectors within the home.

Units: Company 52
